Blank fields in the kept record are filled from its duplicate.

Adds First Name and Last Name columns. Handles "Doe, Jane" too.

How to Clean and Restructure Excel Files Online

Exported spreadsheets rarely arrive import-ready. Padded cells, repeated rows, three different date formats in one column and a single "Full Name" field break lookups, pivot tables and CRM imports. Follow the steps below to fix the most common CSV and Excel errors in one pass.

1. Load your spreadsheet

Drop an .xlsx, .xls or .csv export. The first non-empty row becomes your header row, so exports with a blank title row still parse correctly.

2. Fix invisible whitespace

Trailing spaces are the #1 cause of failed VLOOKUPs and broken CRM imports. Auto-trim collapses double spaces and strips padding from every cell and header.

3. Remove duplicates and blank rows

Exports often repeat rows across paginated reports and leave fully empty rows behind. Deduping keeps the first occurrence of each identical row.

4. Normalize mixed date formats

03/07/2024, 7-Mar-24, March 7 2024 and raw Excel serial numbers all become YYYY-MM-DD — the only format databases and pivot tables sort reliably.

5. Restructure names and casing

Split a full name column into First Name and Last Name (including "Doe, Jane"), then apply consistent UPPERCASE, lowercase or Title Case text.

6. Export and re-import

Download the cleaned result as .xlsx or .csv and feed it straight into Excel, Google Sheets, a CRM or a database import job.
